Though personally I dont like AKs sights, but its due to my eyes which aint perfect and that combined with AKs placing of sights makes it simply hard for me to shoot with it. One needs practicing, of course, but well maintained one is still pretty accurate. But as everyone who has actually fired AK knows, AKs arent so bad at the range either. I still say that if you want to go shooting range, take SKS (though there are better rifles for that) and if you want attitude, take a decent AK. Gixxx said pretty well about SKS/AK47, so you can make your own decision based upon that. This problem is easily overcome, check MikkoLn´s post, but it isnt the only one. Then the days of the reliable old AK are numbered. The most evident problem with Chinese AKs comes when you use non-Chinese ammunition with them. An ideal situation would be some AKM, they are better than classic AK-47s and most people would still think that its an AK47:) One person I knew praised Yugoslavian stuff. I have no personal experience from other than Finnish and Chinese AK variants, but what I know from other sources is that most European stuff should be pretty fine if properly maintained. You can get them with little money, but they arent worth of it, especially when knowing how little more you should pay to get a decent one.
